A Psalm a Day

A Psalm a Day

This week, I invited a special friend of mine to share her Summer of Psalms for Busy Moms: A 40 Day Bible Reading Plan with you! And I know you are going to love her! Sarah is a mom of 5 little ones, and 2 of them are adopted from China. Sarah shares her adoption stories on her beautiful blog. She also has tons of amazing Bible Study resources for free! I know you will love her blog as much as I do! For today, check out her post here and don’t miss her beautiful Summer of Psalms for Busy Moms

We’ve all heard it said that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. When my husband was in medical school I would jokingly say I wouldn’t be able to eat or buy apples anymore once he graduated. We all know the reasoning behind the little rhyme. Healthy eating habits keep our bodies healthy, which means we don’t need to visit the doctor as often.

My mother likes to run. About six years ago she and my aunt joined a Couch to 5K running program. They were hooked. Since then, she’s run 5Ks, 10Ks, and even half marathons. The other day, she mentioned how she was tired of the time it was taking to run. She literally spent hours of her week running. She said, “There are much better things I could be doing.” Health is important, but is it the MOST important thing? Is it the best?

One of my favorite quotes is by Oswald Chambers: “The good often competes with the best.”

So many of us spend hours during the week prepping food and working out to keep our bodies healthy. What about our spiritual health? We know it will be more beneficial to feed our souls, but we don’t spend the time prepping and planning. Good things like Christian service, healthy eating, exercise, parenting, reading, and hobbies are what sometimes keep us from the best: developing our relationship with the Lord.

I know I’ve been guilty of it. Summertime is the hardest for me. When I have a routine, I find myself reading the Bible, praying, and studying more often during the week. It is when the kids are sleeping in, going to the pool, and busy with summer activities that I struggle with daily Bible reading. I get caught up in a lot of “good” things, and I forget the best thing.

This summer I vowed to do something different. I wanted to keep up my Bible reading, but with big changes in our family this summer, I knew a deep study wasn’t going to be possible. So, I developed a summer reading plan.

I wrote Summer of Psalms for Busy Moms: A 40 Day Bible Reading Plan for the mom who is busy and tired. If you are lost and feel disorganized with your Bible reading, my book is the perfect place to jump start this summer. In my book, you will find a 40-page journal perfect for the busy mom! There is space in the journal to write out your prayers and answer some reflection questions, and it also has the KJV of the psalm written out. If you need a way to keep the best thing first this summer, you can order your copy, read more about the journal, and see inside here.

As a special bonus, for Micah’s readers, I’m offering a discount of $1 off the digital version! Use the coupon code: MICAH to get the discount! If you need help planning – I’ve done the hard work for you. Just download your copy, print it off, and get started on something you know will have the best results this summer.

  1. Micah! Thank you for sharing Sarah’s good work here. I taught a Sunday School class several years ago for women and we called it Summer Psalms, and it was so refreshing to “soak our feet” in that uplifting truth together. Trusting that your book will have the same effect for your readers!
