Worry. It’s the jaw-clenching, gut-wrenching, heart-pounding thing that makes you wonder what life will hold next. It’s the fear over what you said yesterday, or what will happen tomorrow. It’s the ache in the pit of your stomach that won’t give up, and the wrinkles in your forehead that can’t relax.
It’s real. And it’s wreaking havoc on our souls one day at a time.
What do we do when worry sabotages our peace and makes us feel like we can’t move?
It’s paralyzing at its best, and completely consuming at its worst.
We know it’s coming because it’s just part of what we do and who we are. We don’t want to worry and we know we shouldn’t, but… life.
Life happens. It comes rolling in like a big tidal wave of shock or disappointment, and we wonder what we should do next.
It all sounds so dramatic when we put it into words. The truth is so often we leave it silent and unsaid. We let it rise and fall as it comes and leave it untended simply because we don’t know how to avoid the rhythm of worry.
When it hits, it hits hard. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a few words of encouragement for those of us who know worry too well. These words are for the ones who never asked for worry to be your BFF, but somehow worry keeps coming back and settling deep into your soul. You know too well the heart-thumping feeling that worry leaves you with and you are ready for something different, better… you are longing for peace. So that is what we will seek together – peace.
If worry is something you struggle with, this is a series you won’t want to miss! We’ll dig deep and always finish with a word of encouragement and inspiration to let go of worry and embrace the wonder of God.
