Sin Hurts – Healing is Optional
The devil is strong, deceitful and on a divisive rampage to destroy. He wants desperately to rip families apart, destroy security, make everything normal seem ridiculous and invade a seemingly happy home, turning it into a place of pain and sin.
Sin and pain walk together. There’s no separating them. When sin comes from within your own heart or home it leaves scars, pain, guilt and a slew of baggage. Sin hurts.
How does a soul move forward following sin in their own heart or home?
1. Forgiveness – Ask for it. Give it.
He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19 (ESV)
2. Prayer – Get close to God and pray for every heart involved and affected.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 (KJV)
The ripple effect of sin goes farther than we like to admit. If there are humans in the home, sin is present. If sin is present, pain is felt.
When we forgive, accept forgiveness, and seek God, that’s when the sting of sin can be soothed and healed. God forgives, heals and restores. No human effort or relationship method mends hearts and “gets over” sin.
Jesus’ blood covered every past, present and future sin. It’s not time to wallow in what was, is, or might be. It’s time to forgive, accept forgiveness, get close to God and begin the healing process.
God’s forgiveness is a safe, secure place with no stones to throw or condemnation to be issued. Forgiveness in His presence means security and healing. Go there.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2 (KJV)
Maybe you’ll never hear an “I’m sorry” or “I forgive you” but God is bigger than the words of men. Don’t allow the pain of sin to keep you from experiencing peace in God’s presence.
Forgive, pray, seek…repeat.
Sometimes it’s hard to know what to say, pray or do. In Romans, Paul reminds us that the we have an intercessor to give words to our groans.
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:26-28 (KJV)
God can take the most broken, messed up situations and turn them into amazing works of grace and mercy. Healing is possible. I pray you will find the healing your heart needs in the loving, forgiving arms of God.
Love & Blessings,
Micah
