Conquering Comparison

I am so excited to have my friend Kristine Brown guest posting on the blog today! I know you will be encouraged by the message in her new book!

My battle began with a glance at an insecure teenager in the mirror in front of me. I didn’t just see myself, however. I saw other reflections as well. The girl sitting to my right and the one sitting to my left had something special. And whatever it was, I wanted it.

In an instant, whispers of doubt found an open door and let themselves into my heart where they would stay for years to come. And so, comparison became an all-too-familiar voice.

My compulsion to compare affected every area of my life…

My role as a mom.

My abilities as a wife.

My calling in ministry.

My relationships at work.

Even worse, by letting the negative pattern of comparison into these places, I could not see all God had planned for me. It distracted me from God’s purpose for my life.

Once I identified this pesky voice, I reached a turning point. I realized how destructive it could be and made a life-altering decision. I started talking about it, a lot.

Through these hard conversations, I found an important truth. I was not alone in my struggle. Women everywhere have given in to the voice of comparison at some point in their lives.

Comparison is a common problem we all face.

I knew it was time to silence this voice once and for all. That’s when I began an incredible adventure to discover the answer. Every struggle, lesson learned, and discovery from God’s Word culminated into this book, Over It. Conquering Comparison to Live Out God’s Plan.

Through the pages of the book, we journey through stories of three women in Scripture who fell into the comparison trap but learned the keys to finding freedom from comparing. Walking through their stories, we will be able to…

Discover deep truths about the struggle with comparison.

Find contentment in our God-given uniqueness.

Realize God’s plan is more than we could ever imagine.

Maybe the thoughts I’ve shared here resonate with you. Maybe – just maybe – you too have listened to that voice.

Has the comparison caused you to question whether you measure up next to her? Are you ready to erase comparison and embrace all God has planned for you? Then I invite you to come along with me and find the answers your heart longs for – the answers that will bring us to a place where we are able to say, “I’m over it,” and mean it.
