School Year Prayers From A Mama’s Heart – September

As we settle into the school routine there will be choices made every day that will impact the next generation. While it is easy to see the negative things that will impact our children, let’s be a part of the positive things that can leave a lasting impression.

Praying for your child is something that they will notice, remember and hopefully carry on into their adult lives. Never underestimate the time you spend in prayer for your child. If life has gotten busy and the school schedule has already begun to set your pace to the constant beat of rush, take a moment to stop and pray. Every single day that you breathe, ask God to give you discernment to raise your children with wisdom and grace.

As I kiss them goodbye and they walk into school my heart feels a tug. I want to protect their minds, hearts and bodies like only I can. Then God gently speaks to my heart, “Micah, I can protect them much better than you can.”

Convicted and consumed with the need to pray, I ask God to give them discernment.

“Lord, walk with them today. Please show them right and wrong. Let them know they are loved. Please protect their hearts and minds. Please guard their bodies from earthly harm. God I need to know they will be in your care.”

As we send our children off to school or keep them home in our own environment, we all need to ask God daily for discernment – discernment in our parenting and discernment in the hearts of the children in our care.
