I Believe

If we could sit down and share some of the most meaningful moments of our lives, I would be excited to hear what has impacted your life the most. The moments in life that changed you, or began a transformation in your journey.

When it is my turn to share I would take you back to a church in Denton, Texas where my dad was the pastor. I had heard Bible stories and church songs from the day I was born. By five years old I could quote several verses from the Bible and make up my own rendition of “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.”

Sunday evening as I listened to my daddy preach, my heart felt something that I cannot completely articulate. As an innocent five-year-old, I felt a nudge in my heart that spoke to me. It was not an audible voice, but an overwhelming conviction that I could not ignore. I knew I had to respond. I stepped out from my seat and knelt down with my mother, tears streaming down my face. I still remember the way the carpet felt on my knees and the way the tears dripped from my chin. Here is what was happening in my heart:

1. I knew I felt God speaking to me, telling me He loved me.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

2. I knew I needed to accept the free gift of forgiveness and eternal life that God offered through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

That is thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13

3. I knew and believed I could not do anything to work my way to Heaven. I knew I must trust Jesus to fill the void in my heart. I knew He had paid for my sins, bridging the gap between me and God.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

4. I prayed and spoke to God telling Him what I was feeling. I told Him I knew I had sinned and I wanted forgiveness. I told Him I believed Jesus had died for my sins and risen from the dead. I accepted the free gift of forgiveness and eternal life in Heaven.

This began a relationship with God that I could not completely comprehend in my childish mind, but over the years it has grown into something that I cannot live without.

I draw strength from God that is beyond my understanding.

He comforts me when I am sad.
He gives me wisdom in difficult decisions.
He enlightens things that are uncertain or confusing.
He calms my heart when I am afraid.
He truly carries me through this life on earth.

I wish I could explain everything about Him. He has completely changed my life in a way that is amazing. His love is beyond any human relationship I have ever experienced. I love him and I know he loves me unconditionally.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:17

If you know Him, then you can understand what I am speaking of. If you don’t know him, please allow me to introduce you to my best friend of all time, the one and only Jesus Christ. He loves you more than you can imagine.

Maybe you’ve heard of Him before but never fully believed. You may not see lightning in the sky, or feel an overwhelming feeling in your soul, but if you truly believe in Him, He will change your life. I hope you will accept my friend Jesus as your friend and Savior. If you want to believe, you can pray something like this:

Dear God, I believe Jesus died for me and loves me. I accept your gift of eternal life in Heaven and I want to have a relationship with you. I will trust you and allow you to lead me and guide me in my life. In Jesus name, Amen.

If you met Jesus for the first time today, message me and let me help you find a Bible teaching church in your area and other believers who can help you grow in your relationship with Jesus.

If you already know Jesus as your friend and Savior COMMENT below and tell us when you met Him. You never know how God will use your story to impact someone else for God’s glory and kingdom.

Do you believe?

SHARE this with someone you love.

Much Love and Blessings,

Micah

  1. I don’t remember feeling like you describe. My mom tells me I was baptized. I do believe in Jesus as our savior. I struggle to read the Bible, to understand it. I ask God to help me “get it” and I also worry about a ton of things beyond my control. I’m frustrated in our human traits that keep up from a true relationship with God. Your post has given me hope and direction. Thank you!

  2. Hey Micah!

I really love and appreciate what you’ve shared here. Your testimony is so touching. You’ve shared in such a personal way. God is so good. So glad to know that we are sisters in Christ and we have the same precious blood flowing through our spiritual veins. God bless you my sister.

    Love in Christ,
    Tiffiney
