31 Days of Prayer – Week 5

It is good to remember. Remember where you come from. Remember what you’ve been through. Remember the moments of life that impacted you the most.

When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. Psalm 63:6-7

Take a look back on your life. Maybe your life is filled with hurt and pain. Just the thought of looking back makes you shudder. You want to press forward and run far away forgetting what has happened. If you could leave it all behind, you would. Broken relationships, unexpected tragedy and hard times seem to be the theme.

Maybe your life has been seemingly calm. You don’t know the pain of a cancer diagnosis hitting your family, an unexpected loss or deep pain. You look around and feel lucky. Whether you fit in the hurting category, the mundane, or somewhere in between, look around you.

God is there. Have you experienced His presence in your life? Can you look back and remember times that He has made Himself known to you?

He is there in the good moments, the bad moments, the ugly moments and the completely unimaginable moments. In everything, He is revealing a little bit of Himself. Don’t miss it.

If you have joined us on this amazing journey of 31 Days of Prayer, I hope your heart has been encouraged and blessed by your time spent in God’s presence. If you are just now joining us, I hope you will be encouraged to spend more time taking everything to God in prayer. Be specific. Be personal. Be honest. This will be a precious time to remember.

I hope you have personally experienced answered prayer in your life. If not, keep praying. Look around. God often reveals Himself in everyday life. Sometimes it’s in the darkest moments that you and I would never wish for. Sometimes it’s in the beauty of His creation. Other times it’s a faint whisper that you cannot ignore. Have you heard His voice before?

It is often difficult to see God in the dark places of life. I know. I have sat alone and cried in the darkness. I have felt the pain of abandonment. I have felt the pain of loss. I have sat in the seat of the unknown. Every place, every seat, God was there with me. My seat is not the same as your seat and I would never pretend to understand every pain you have felt. It might seem like God is far away, but He promises to walk with us through the darkest valleys.

Let me encourage you today. No matter what you have endured, no matter what you are up against, God’s presence is accessible.

You have a choice. Run to Him and let Him hold you. Let the tears drop at His feet. Let Him comfort. Let Him love. Let Him hold you in the darkness or run hard away from Him. He will bring you out of the dark place and into the light.

Are you running? Are you frozen, not sure how to move? Do you need peace to carry you on to the next step? God’s love will fill the empty places. God’s peace will calm the unimaginable circumstances. God wants to walk with you, be with you and love you every moment.

Do you know Him? If you do, remember Him. Remember the times He has called you. Remember the moments when your heart was beating and you could hear His voice. Remember the way His voice sounded. Run that direction. When you meet Him, let Him embrace you. It’s ok to let the tears flow. Let Him love you. He is there to comfort you. He is there to love you.

As we conclude our “31 Days of Prayer,” I hope you will go into His presence and let Him love you like never before. If you have been praying over a loved one, pray that God would reveal Himself so clearly to them that they cannot help but see Him. Pray they will feel Him near. Pray they will hear His voice. Pray they will run to Him.

And while you are in His presence, stop. Be quiet. Listen. What is saying to you?

How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. Psalm 139:17-18

  8. After going through some rough patches a couple of years ago, I found the book, The Red Sea Rules, to be very helpful and encouraging. It is based on the book of Exodus, specifically Moses. It’s short and to the point. I really enjoy reading it. Thanks for sharing your post at Inspire Me Mondays!

  9. Micah, thank you for the encouragement and for encouraging others! I appreciate your ability to get us to be more intimate, more vulnerable, with Jesus. Stopping by from #FindStability.
