When Life Feels Impossible

Have you ever felt like life is simply impossible? The things that are marching hard and loud into your life appear too big, too bad, and the hope of help feels out of reach. What do you do when life feels impossible?

I’ve been there more times than I can count. But on one particular day the worry over my current battle wounded my heart. It felt like God wasn’t helping me.

I stood in my bathroom crying tears of frustration for the third day in a row. I struggled in my mind if it was just hormonal or if my circumstances were as bad as they felt that day.

The truth proved life was as hard as it felt and maybe even harder. As I sat with my back leaned against the wall, I asked God, “Are you gonna help me?”

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

The very next moment the praise music rang from my phone like a sweet message of help directly to my heart.

You’re a good, good Father,

that’s who You are.

That’s who You are.

That’s who You are.

And I’m loved by You.

That’s who I am.

That’s who I am.

That’s who I am.”

Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin

My need, my circumstances, my heartache and heartbreak didn’t have a clear answer, but in that moment I found an answer I forgot about.

God is my help.

What to Do When Life Feels Impossible

God, my Father wanted to help me. Sometimes we forget that God is in control and the help we often search the world over for is actually found in a Father that we already have. It’s not our earthly father, it’s our heavenly one.

Life is impossible. But with God nothing is impossible. Therefore – Life with God is possible. I choose to lift up my eyes and look for the possibility that God is already helping me.

For me, this help looks a bit more like growth. God is growing me, changing me, and giving me every opportunity to learn to trust Him more. What about you?
